MISSION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

  • To serve as a forum and resource center in order to enable Ethiopian women to discuss, promote, and develop their social and economic interest.
  • To promote the culture, history and literature of Ethiopian by organizing social and cultural events such as art exhibitions, poetry readings and food festivals.
  • To encourage members to become involved in American community life through their participation in various charitable, educational, religious and cultural activities.
  • To act as an advocacy group to promote Ethiopian women's rights in Ethiopia and the US. As such, hold conduct and organize meetings, discussions and forums to consider community opinions or relevant contemporary issues and developments affecting the social and economic status of Ethiopian Women.
  • To provide information, orientation and referral services to immigrant and refugee women. Engage in concerted action with private and governmental agencies and organizations on cultural, economic and other programs related to immigrant women.
  • Engage in fund raising activities for implementing the objectives of the association, encourage self-help projects, and establish links with women's organizations that have similar objectives in the US, in Ethiopia and internationally.
